AASA & PHACA to pay tribute to Dr.Ifti Nasim and S Randhir Singh NY
 
AASA (Asian American Seniors Association) and PHACA (Pakistani Heritage and Cultural Association) will pay tribute to Dr.Iftekhar (Ifti) Nasim and S Randhir Singh New York who passed away few months back. Both of these Punjabi Poets were well known in their field for Punjabi Poetry oration. Both frequently participated in Global Punjabi Milaaps. Function will be held on October 30thfrom noon to 5pm at Palatine Public Library located at 700 N North Ct in Palatine, Illinois 60067.
          Dr.Ifti Nasim was born in Pakistan before his migration to USA and lived in Chicago. He was writer, poet, and author and Radio host. He was awarded for his writings in India and Europe. One of his English poetry books was prescribed as a text book at Triton College in Chicago, Illinois. BBCLondon made a documentary film on him. He started his radio show SARGAM on AM and also wrote for Pakistani Newspaper. He also edited a Magazine. Many prominent singers loved to sing his Urdu Gazzals. Zanab Gulam Ali Sahib recognized him in audience when he sang his Gazzel,”Fasle etnebhi honge.”
          S Randhir Singh was an Engineer by profession but loved Punjabi poetry. He wrote 7 Punjabi books. Some one did M.Phil on one of his Punjabi book. Some of his books are available at Palatine Public Library’ Foreign language section. Urdu poet Zanab Johar Mir called him,”Chhoti Behar da wadda Kavi”. One of his book,”Gaggar Ton Saagar” was Published in Pakistan. He was born in village Siwia in Dist Bhatinda.
